You will be set out from your hotel in an air conditioned car/coach for a sightseeing tour in New Delhi, the capital of India. A local English speaking guide will accompany you on this excursion. You will visit the following famous landmarks of the city:

Qutub Minar

The tallest hand carved brick minaret in the world at 72.5 meters, it is one of the finest examples of Indo- Islamic architecture. The construction began in the 12th century by the slave king Qutubuddin Aibak, from whose name the minaret gets its name. In the same complex is a mosque and iron pillar, which has not rusted even after 1,500 years.

Humayun’s Tomb

The mausoleum of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. It was built in 1570 by the emperor’s widow, Haji Begum. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was the first garden tomb of India and a forerunner of the Mughal style of architecture, with high arches and formal gardens (charbagh).

Red Fort

One of the most spectacular pieces of Mughal Architecture is the Lal Quila or the Red Fort. Built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648, the Red Fort has walls extending up to 2 kms. in length with the height varying from 18 mts. on the river side to 33 mts. on the city side.

India Gate

A 40-meter high war memorial arch dedicated to Indian soldiers who died in World War I.

Humayun’s Tomb

The President’s residence and formerly the Viceroy’s Palace, this building is constructed on top of Raisina Hill. As the highlight of Lutyen’s Delhi, it is an impressive sight, particularly when it is lit up.

Raj Ghat

Set in the midst of deep green lawns, Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. A memorial to the father of the nation, Rajghat is a simple square platform with a black memorial stone with “Hey Ram” engraved on it. “Hey Ram” were the last words uttered by the Mahatma before collapsing after being shot at. Located on the west bank of the River Yamuna, Rajghat is surrounded by a wooded area and several exotic shrubs that give the area a serene ambience.

Akshardham

The Akshardham monument, built of sandstone and marble is one of the wonders of the modern India. It consists of 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants) and 20,000 murtis and statues of India’s great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities.The monument is a fusion of several architectural styles of pink stone and pure white marble. Pink stone symbolizes bhakti (devotion) in eternal bloom and white marble of absolute purity and eternal peace.

Lotus Temple

The Lotus Temple is the most captivating edifice situated in Southern part of New Delhi. Shaped like a lotus and the temple is worth exploring. Built by the Baha`i community, it offers the visitor a serenity that pervades the temple and its artistic design.

Birla Temple

Laxminarayan Mandir is one of the major temples and landmarks of Delhi. During 1933-39, Laxmi Narayan Temple was built by Mr. B.D. Birla of Birla Group of Industries, one of the famous business tycoons of India. Being constructed by the Birlas, the temple came to be known as Birla Temple. Located on Mandir Marg near Connaught Circus in Delhi, the temple is easily accessible from the city by metro, local buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws. Birla Mandir is first of the temples made by Birlas across the country and till date, the funds to support this temple come from Birla family. The famous temple is accredited to have been inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1939. At that time, Mahatma Gandhi kept a condition that the temple would not be restricted to the Hindus and people from every caste would be allowed

inside. In those times, the condition was really worked upon; still people visit this temple with full devotion.

Akshardham was created by HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj in fulfillment to the wish of his guru, Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj, the fourth successor in the spiritual hierarchy of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. In only a short timespan of five years Swaminarayan Akshardham became a reality through the blessings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, 300 million man hours of epic services rendered by 11,000 volunteers, sadhus and artisans and the immense sacrifice, austerities, prayers of hundreds of thousands of young and old devotees of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

In Morning: DELHI To AGRA (203 Kms. 4 Hrs. 30 Min. Approx.)

Start the trip from Delhi to reach Agra, the ultimate zenith of art and an enshrined romantic symbol. The town still lives mainly in the past. It once served as the seat of the Mughal rulers. Agra boosts of possessing Taj Mahal, the epitome of beauty. The monument appears as a poem in white marble .It took 22 years to get built by 20,000 skilled artisans who laid the white marble structure with precious and semi precious stones. Many tourists visit India only to see the Taj Mahal and are engulfed in its mystery and spell.

0630 To 1130 Hours: In Agra

Drive to Agra through the Indian country side. Upon arrival, proceed to the Taj Mahal to take a glimpse of the architectural modern day wonder of the world. This monument built by Emperor Shah Jahaan is a fine example of fusion of many architectural styles prevalent.

1330 To 1400 Hours: Lunch In Agra

Having witnessed this wonder of the world, proceed to one of the good Hotels in Agra where a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits you.

1400 To 1530 Hours: Agra Fort Visit

Enjoy your lunch and later visit the Agra Fort. This fort was built in red sandstone with its magnificent palaces, halls of public/private audience and beautiful gardens. This is where Emperor Shah Jahan was kept under house arrest by his third son Aurangzeb and spent the last year of his life viewing the Taj Mahal from across the river Jamuna.

1530 To 2000 Hours: Agra To Delhi

These hours concludes the tour. Return to Delhi around 1830 hours stopping in midway for refreshments. Later continue the drive to Delhi.
